Even teams that take a QB with a top 10 pick use 2-4 years to figure that out. Often, you don't know until he is in a playoff game and in do-or-die position.

That's the point though. Don't pass on really good QB prospects until you're sure. "Already have Leftwich so we don't need Big Ben." The Cardinals drafted Rosen and then immediately took Murray the next year. Heck, even the Redskins traded up for RG3 then drafted Cousins the same year.

QB is the most important position (obviously) so accumulating good QB talent seems pretty logical.

Again, I'm not saying Minshew can't be the real deal (he's only made 6 starts) but I wouldn't bring Foles back because I want to see more of Minshew.

Oh okay, so mean stockpile QB's until you know you have one. I think that makes some sense. It's just that in both of those situations, each of those QB's had full seasons or so to prove they were the guy. They got to go through preseason, get 1st team snaps, etc.

I'm just not sure how that would play out with the Jags, because they would likely have to move on from Minshew to get a second guy or try to have both split reps/game time. Both scenarios could blow up in their face.
