I don't think it downplays anything. People just make a big deal about black quarterbacks because there are far fewer of them than black players at other positions.

 

You just proved my point.  Someone that is hard of hearing may think that its a bigger accomplishment for a deaf person to play in the Super Bowl while a black person may think an African American quarterback is an accomplishment.  Both are opinions, not a fact.

 

I'm not saying this is the line of thinking, but being happy a black qb wins a Super Bowl would be like a white person hoping a white running back or receiver wins it because there are so few.   It's meaningless to me.
