You have obviously not been on a military base either here in the states or overseas.  There are no "bunkers" for personnel (for the most part).  Your "brother of a friend" probably said something along the lines of being at general quarters (or whatever is similar in the army) for an extended period of time.

It has been reported that since the elimination of the terrorist (Soleimani) forces in the region have been on a heightened alert for attacks on bases.  This "attack" was expected thus a heightened military stance was ordered.  They don't "hunker down in bunkers" when that happens.

Neither of us were there.

I just read another first-hand account on the AP wire that mentions a "bomb shelter" at our base in Erbil.
To me, a bomb shelter and a bunker or the same type of structure. To the civilian sisters of service members, they are the same thing probably. For the military they might be similar, but really two different things.  I don't know. That's fine. It doesn't change the fact that you can't do any actual fighting out of either one.

Thank you for your service, but don't presume that it means you know more than these firsthand accounts that we both have access to.
