I read this as his people have tried to get him to see it he doesn't have the position to get a top deal immediately. He needs to needs to understand the rules of the CBA, he can't just do what he wants. He believes he is worth top money and will not accept anything else, even if he doesn't get paid at all.

It is not a smart decision, sure the rules may not be fair for top talent, but the rules are there and agreed to by the NFLPA.

I interpreted this as the offer on the table really is a good offer with some type of future option (big picture - chance to strike again in his prime) and to not worry about pass transgressions made by the team against Yannick. The source possibly being his recently fired agent.
