Okay blame Caldwell for Gus, sure. I don't know if he was responsible, but he may have been. Khan could have been pushing for Gus this whole time and Caldwell wanted to head a different direction. Maybe Khan learned his lesson thru Gus and Coughlin and is letting Caldwell do his thing. The facts certainly line up to fit that narrative but I respect the fact that neither of us know and you can twist the facts to fit any narrative. 

Point is, Gus is gone, Caldwell and Marrone are here. We got a few key pieces on defense but obviously are lacking in areas. Doesn't help when we had a couple rotten apples on defense that got shipped off, they would have plugged those holes nicely I think. But obviously they weren't on board with the program, that I refuse to blame on Caldwell. We got 4 picks in the first two rounds going into next year, I think its fair to see how Caldwell addresses the needs with that draft before issuing final judgment. 

There's been a litany of issues in Caldwell's way since he started. Now he has a decent head coach in Marrone, say what you will about Balogne man, he's at least competent, albeit imperfect.

The issue with Wash is a scheme one. The Seattle defense relies too much on an overabundance of talent and individual players making adjustments on the fly. I'm not a fan of the scheme, even when we had the talent to back it up. Our defense could potentially look much better if we sheltered our secondary a bit rather than hung them out to dry play in and play out.

Please explain how we are hanging our secondary out to dry?  Hanging them out to dry would imply blitzing and leaving them in man coverage with no help. We have one of the lowest blitz percentages in the League (9.6% after 2 games).  That IS sheltering our secondary.  We seem to be in Cover 3 or Quarters all game and get picked apart because we can't get to the QB.  The problem is our pass rush isn't good enough to get pressure without blitzing and our secondary isn't good enough to hold up in coverage if we do.  You know why?  Its LACK OF TALENT.  Great defenses can rush and cover, average defenses are good at one or the other... we do not do either well.  The fact we have been giving up 400 yards per game (300 in the pass game) and have only had 2 sacks all season clearly demonstrates that.

What would you like to see Wash do differently?  Blitz more and truly leave our secondary exposed?  I actually feel for the guy... he is choosing a slower death by playing coverage and hoping someone can make a play than a quick one by blitzing.  Its damned if you do, damned if you don't.  That's not scheme... its lack of talent.
