I'm not asking to be belligerent, I simply don't know who you could be referring to that would be any better than what we have when you consider the costs involved.

 

These guys, if they make it to free agency as they are scheduled to, are all guys I'd consider as people I'd favor bringing in to show Henne and Gabbert the door:

 

Freeman, McCown, Jackson, or Wallace.

 

The rest of the guys are arguably just more of the same as Henne, but I wouldn't be upset at Caldwell bringing anyone in just to see some fresh competition and get some perspective for the coaches.

 

As for the costs, I don't propose trading for someone, that's more of a waste than drafting someone. At least drafting someone there's a chance they're better than their draft position. If you trade for someone it's almost definite that they're not elite material, or the team wouldn't let them go.

 

Their salary costs are almost irrelevant. This team has so much cap space that the more pressing issue is what happens to the team and the fan base if they go into another season getting piledriven by every team they play because they're starting one of the two proven losers already here again.
