You seem to say that's what the NFL wants... offense over defense, superhero QBs winning championships.

 

When, in fact, even the superhero QBs aren't winning when they aren't playing good defense and have a potent running game.  No one is underrating Wilson, he's a fantastic up and coming player that's probably about to break into "elite" territory if he continues to grow at this pace.

 

However, what you're doing is underrating the importance of everything around Wilson that's allowing him to grow.  If there were anything close to how the Ravens won with Dilfer, it would indeed be the Seahawks.  The perennial contenders are those who have a strong overall roster, not just a superstar QB.  Those with a QB alone simply tease in the playoffs and have a tough time getting rings.

Someone said that the Jaguars should try to build the team into an elite defense and just accept a game manager QB, then pointing to the Seahawks as a team that made this method work.

 

It's a wrong notion for two reasons. The first is that teams with game manager QBs don't win in the playoffs. That's why the Bengals and texans have been so bad in the playoffs. The second is that Russell Wilson isn't a game manager, he's a playmaker.

 

Nothing in my point says the Jaguars have to draft a QB this year.
