I agree with your assessment of Watson. He is overrated, but judging on what the Lions got for a "better than average QB" in Stafford, Watson will definitely command more. That's just the NFL we live in right now. Thank God we have the #1 overall pick, so we can get our franchise QB without paying these ridiculous prices and crippling our future.

This is what I don't get. Why pay a boatload of picks when you can just tank.
In the NFL, there's no lottery, so tanking 100% gives you a shot at the top pick.

In the Bears and Redskins cases all they had to do was lose 1 more game and they would have had the first or 2nd pick.
If they had done that they wouldn't have had to mortgage their future with a boatload of picks for a questionable talent like RG3 or Trubitsky.

The Colts tanking for Luck was super smart.
the generational can't miss QB only happens once every 7-15 years.
