They haven't worked for the people in decades. They're a bunch of self serving jacktards who do nothing but whore themselves out to whoever gives them the best shot at getting what they want. Not a single person in DC is doing a damn thing for me or you, its all about them. It doesn't have to be an either/or, but the snarky jerks don't see it that way. I prefer very limited government. I used to believe people should be able to police themselves, that we could and should be self sufficient and self governing, but as time goes on I see that it is not possible. I look at just the Tide pod challenge from a few years back, the current Gorilla Glue fiasco involving adults, and all the others and realize that somewhere critical thinking ran off the rails. People blame everyone but themselves for their idiocy in every aspect of their lives instead of taking responsibility or not allowing the past dictate their present and future. That's why there are warning labels on everything from lawsuits that should never have seen a courtroom. It's why the victim mentality is so rampant. They're not able to self govern any more than I'm able to do an Iron Man triathlon. A line by Nick Fury to Steve Rogers in Captain America: Civil War is telling of how i see things anymore. I paraphrase: S.H.I.E.L.D. takes the world as it is, not how we want it to be. As someone who has always seen the optimistic side of things I am growing more pessimistic by the year. We have a government at the federal, state and local levels that allowed all the crazy that happened last year and with rare occurrence didn't say a word or move against it. That message along with many, many others sends a dangerous precedent. We have television, radio and print media who are encouraged to sow hate and discontent, and social media where everyone is a keyboard warrior intimidating and shaming anyone with whom they disagree. And this is not a left vs right 'we don't agree' issue, it's a 'you don't agree with me, so you're cancelled!" issue. |
