I don't like ties. You do need overtime.

This "spot and choose" is definitely interesting. Prior to hearing it, I always liked the idea of sudden death, but the team who got the ball first had to score a touchdown while the team that opened on defense would only have to score a field goal to win. It helps even out the coin toss. You may get the first try, but it's much tougher to score a touchdown than a field goal.
