It looks like he was driving further to find a well lit area during the nighttime. I don't blame him for doing that, a lot of people would have done the same. The cops were out of line with him, they were way too aggressive. Which tends to be the case with some/possibly a lot of cops these days. He didn't deserve to be treated like that and seemed pretty compliant. It's alarming they would treat anyone let alone a member of the armed forces that way.
