This is an actual email I received from the credit union which carries the note for my truck loan. It’s such a naked attempt to use the woke language checklist that it looks like something out of The Onion.

“Digital inequity is a widespread problem that has been highlighted by the pandemic. Our elderly parents need to know how to use technology to book their doctor's appointments. Our children need their own personal computers to get the education they deserve. Each of us, including those in rural communities, needs reliable broadband to further our careers.

I’m excited to share a new initiative your team at xxxx is very passionate about. As a national, digital credit union, we feel a particular obligation to create a more inclusive digital world. That is why we are on a mission to create equitable digital access for everyone.

With our national and community partners, we are focusing on providing reliable broadband, digital literacy resources, and technology equipment to under-resourced communities. We do this through xxxx Foundation grants and actively volunteering for our partners' missions.
