What Jaguar Coaches are saying about the 'Big 3'.

#75

Quote:Less that's being said, more they like him

Not true. They could be talking a lot about one quarterback now, the talk a lot about another quarterback later. After the Louisville and UCF Pro Days, they might change their minds and have a new favorite. After Johnny Manziel's Pro Day, they might change their minds about him.

Quote:It's hard to believe anything at this time of year. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is a smokescreen.

I've got my concerns about Manziel. I think the first time he rolls out of the pocket, JJ Watt or Robert Mathis is gonna kill the poor kid. But, if they do draft him, I'm not gonna think about jumping off the Modis building like I did with the Alualu or Derrick Harvey pick.

For the record . . . Give me Teddy, FTW.

No, not everything is smokescreen. That is obvious. David Caldwell said he was impressed with Manziel's interview preparation when he knew the names of five people in the room he never met. There is no way that can be smokescreen. Also, when Caldwell said he knows who his top three guys are, he did not name any of them, so that's not smokescreen either. What they are doing is dropping hints to keep people guessing.

Quote:Let's not try to guess the organization's grade on players based on a few quotes. That's just stupid.

I don't think it hurts to guess who they like based on a bunch of quotes by Caldwell and Bradley. For example, Gus said humility is important to him, which indicates he will be more interested in a mature player than Manziel, who has a lot of confidence but is not humble at all. Caldwell's comments imply he thinks no quarterbacks deserve to be the #3 overall pick. What is wrong with thinking that means they are not high on Manziel?

Quote:I could be wrong but the small comment about Bridge after the more detailed comments about the other players is a dead giveaway to me that Bridgewater is their guy right now.

You definitely are wrong. One article had that much information but if you read other articles, chances are you will find more comments about Bridgewater and less about Bortles and Manziel or different quotes about those three quarterbacks.

Quote:Does any team come out of a player interview and NOT say "very impressed"? It's become coach speak for this crap.

They can be very impressed for different reasons. Maybe one guy impressed with them his knowledge of the game, while another impressed them with his character as a person. They don't always tell you that part.
