Not true.  The current vaccines do provide protection against the Delta Variant.  

There may be more breakthrough infections with variants, but the risk of hospitalziation or death amongst vaccinated individuals is significantly lower than those unvaccinated.  Also, vaccinated individuals carry a much lower viral load which means they are less likely to transmit it to others even if they do get infected.
