I just don't think they are that valuable..  Jimmy Johnson has the same viewpoint and actually never took a tackle that high.  Most of the superbowl winning O-lines he had were mid rounders.

The Redskins taking Trent Williams sure has put them over the top.

 

The Rams taking Jason Smith in 2009 also sure turned their franchise around.

 

Same thing with the Bengals taking Andre Smith in 2009... sure made them playoff contenders (and had nothing to do with AJ Green and Andy Dalton and one of the best Defense's in the league"

 

Jake Long.... even as a perennial pro bowler, didn't help the Dolphins do squat. 

 

 

They are overrated to be taken so high.  Not needed. 

 

Even good tackles taken high on (now) good teams Russell Okung for the Seahawks.... the Seahawks have shown that they can win without him.
