Johnny Manziel played in the AAC conference this year(Teddy and Bortles conference).

This thread actually came from a lot of what WingerDinger has been saying in his latest posts on these boards. And I think he's got a point.

From the Russell Wilson strength-of-arm thread

Would have love to have seen Manziel face weaker conference opponents like Bridgewater did..

Something that a lot of people on these boards forget is that Manziel did in fact play one team from Teddy's AAC conference this year: SMU.

And I feel the results speak for themselves.
(*note: Teddy by chance did not play SMU this year, Bortles did.)

Quote:<div>Manziel against SMU from the AAC conference.
14-of-21 for 244-yards passing.
12-carries for 102-yards rushing.
He ended with a 92.1 QBR that day.

Bortles against the same SMU team from the AAC
24-35 for 242-yards passing.
10-carries for 31-yards rushing.
He ended with a 73.5 QBR that day.
</div>
Manziel had more passing yards on 14-less passes, and the QBR-gap between the two is quite telling IMO.
Oh, and keep in mind, Bortles did those numbers playing all 4 quarters. Manziel sat on the bench after one drive into the 3rd quarter.

And of course mind you, Johnny was doing this to AAC defenses, just one week after putting over 560-yards of total offense against the #1 ranked defense Alabama.  Perhaps Johnny in the AAC would have *averaged over 500-yards per game for the season, and a *90-plus QBR for the year. Pretty cray-cray just to imagine.

Perhaps WingerDinger has a point.

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.
