I like the aggressiveness and I like playing for the win. As a Vandy grad and a Jags fan, I've seen a lot of terrible football over the years. And I've been rooting for teams who far too often are undertalented compared to their opponent. And there is nothing I hate more than playing by the conventional wisdom and being safe and not playing to win. Last night Vandy had a 3 point lead with about a minute and a half to go. 4th and about 4 inside the 10 yard line after marching it down the field. Unlike Meyer, Vandy's coach decides to play it safe and kick the FG. And their undertalented defense allows SC to march down the field for a winning TD and we lose by 1. Play for the win! If the Jags converted that 4th down and were able to score a TD on the drive, the game is likely over. But who knows how the game plays out if they do kick the FG. Maybe the Dolphins still march right down for a TD to tie it. And maybe instead of us being down by 3, if it's a tied ball game and only a few minutes to go, we don't allow Wright to attempt a 55 yard FG giving the Dolphins a short field if he misses. And instead punt it away. Or maybe we go for it there and dont get it giving the Dolphins great field position anyways. You never know how things will play out but I like our chances up 11 halfway through the 4th. Keep playing to win! At least this time we had our best RB on the field for the 4th down play. Baby steps. Jags Coaches should get credit for the play before the GW FG. But I disagree on the redzone 4th down. Up by 7 and up by 6 is a HUGE difference. If the Jags were only up by 3 points at that point, I think yes the board would have been divided. But up by 4 point in that situation, you have to take the points.
