Not really.  I have said many times before that I didn't vote for Trump in the primary, but I voted for him in the general election because it was pretty much "anyone but Hillary".  In the 2020 election I voted for Trump because I saw the good that he had done during his first (only) term.  He stood up to China, helped broker some peace in the middle east, worked on actually securing the southern border and the economy was booming just to name a few accomplishments.  In addition to that he exposed the MSM for what it is, though many people don't like the way "how" he exposed it.

His downfall was his personality and presentation.  Too many people were "triggered" because of his tweets.

I don't want to start the "election was stolen" debate because it doesn't matter at this point.  I do find it odd that he had thousands of people showing up to his campaign events while Biden had tens of people showing up if/when he did anything public.  I find it odd that when I went to bed Trump had a pretty good lead and when I woke up in the morning "suddenly" there was a surge of Biden votes.

To get back to my original point, FSG is right.  I do think that far more votes went to Trump in 2016 not necessarily as a repudiation of Obama (though there were some I'm sure), it was revulsion over Hillary.

KingIngram got it right. There's a reason Trump won the primaries. There were many Republicans who felt like the establishment was no longer speaking to them. These people gave Trump the nod. After that, it was anything but Hillary. Even then, I believe that motivation was spurred on by the idea that the right can't do anything to stop the left and that the institutions were too politicized to trust the democrats. Trump just proved it.
