Quote:Aside from the conspiracy theory, he's got a point. Most teams were right up against the cap and the Jaguars were one of the few teams in great shape to make moves. With the huge increase in salary cap, now most teams having breathing room and can resign their own players. Other teams will now have the space to compete to sign the remaining free agents, which they wouldn't have been able to do before. It is interesting that when it was time for the Jaguars to implode because of the salary cap we just imploded and got 10 years of middling seasons at best, but when marquee teams are about to have trouble the NFL finds a way to keep them from having to deal with their prior excesses. |
