It won't take that many participants to have an impact. I remember from decades ago the New Orleans Saints fans showing up to games with paper bags over their heads. All the sports stations and news stations covered them. Given all the media coverage this has already generated, you know that every person in a clown outfit or with a clown sign will be photographed or shown in the game coverage. Especially if they wear the moustaches. 

This is a clear message that the fans are one step away from torches and pitchforks and maybe the embarassment Khan feels over that kind of coverage will get him to pay attention. When the team announces that Baalke is staying on, it's clear he's not paying attention yet.

You remember the stories about Aints fans wearing bags on their heads, but do you remember what they were up in arms about, or how they wanted it to be fixed?

I don't understand the torches and pitchforks here...what's the goal? If Shad keeps Baalke, get the hell out of town? Are we really this bloodthirsty?
