I think more people had been exposed to it by March 2020 than we realize. I am 99.999% my mom had it in Jan/Feb but we wouldn't realize it until Mar/Apr when symptoms were being listed by the CDC. There are at least two others in my church who we are certain also had it around that same timeframe but again we didn't realize it until a few months later. By the time antibody testing was available no one thought it would matter because so much time had passed. 

Just because things seem unlikely doesn't mean they aren't true. At one point everyone thought this virus was a bonafide death sentence for the majority and that is certainly not the case. No one thought a vaccine could be rolled out in less than a year.
