He helped coach and game plan a top 5 offense before Brady’s arrival.

And this past Sunday. After a bad first half, he made adjustments in the scheme to slide more “chips” Brady’s way and help the offense get going. Simply put, what marrone failed to do in our AFC championship game; he didn’t adjust as the game changed with our lead evaporating. Leftwich impressed me. They almost had that game but Todd Bowles said nope.

He’s very well regarded and respected by players.

I have no problem with his hire, and in fact, I encourage it. This is not political, just an observation, but this league needs more diversity. I don’t just mean in terms of race (that’s important) , but in terms of the good old boy network, and diversity in background and coach farming. There’s constant retreads and closed wagons when it often comes to coaching. If the Rams had listened to conventional thinking they wouldn’t have hired a young, unproven McVay. If the Steelers had done the same, they wouldn’t have hired an up and coming but somewhat unproven Mike Tomlin.

I think, giving all these factors in mind, Leftwich should be the hire. He shows promise, has the acumen to help Trevor, and he’s a flexible and likeable guy who also brings a breath of fresh air to Jacksonville and the nfl in general.
