When he saw that wasn’t the case he stepped up and took control. His statement was if he was going to fail, he was going to fail his way. Meyer just stood to the side and warmed his hands with the flames of the conflagration he ignited.

I don't buy for a second that he had no clue how the NFL worked. It's just him trying to make an excuse for how inept he was as an NFL coach. When he was hired he bragged about how much research he had done the year before about the NFL.
