There is still a brief period between tomorrow's tag deadline and the start of free agency. The team has stated they want to re-sign him. If they re-sign him before free agency starts, they could show they want to keep him and use the tag on someone else.

If they re-sign him, there better be a way to get out of the deal in year 2 without a substantial cap hit in dead money. Front load the crap out of the thing on the first year. I'm hoping next year's draft class has much better OT prospects like we saw in 2021 and we can actually upgrade the position significantly.
