You don't become the best player at your position in the NFL being dumb as rocks. Jalen didn't hate Jacksonville, he was mistreated by an old out of touch moron and watched as a bust QB got a huge pay day while he (one of the main reasons we won in 2017) was pushed aside along with Yannick.. 

He's a smart guy, maybe a bit of a diva but it's childish to hold contempt for a guy who put it all on the line for a team that decided he wasn't worth paying.

The Jags never thought Jalen wasn't worth paying. Same for Yannick. They just didn't want to pay market rate a few years earlier than they had to, so they could have money to spend at other positions. If they were giving a 2nd contract earlier than they needed, they wanted at least some amount of discount. 

Yes, the Jack deal was a mistake, but from that FO's eyes, they thought they were getting him rate below what he would get in FA and they were projecting him to continue being a season-long Pro-bowl level LB. Yes, the Bortles deal was a mistake, but mainly because the FO didn't think paying Cousins extra money he got from Minnesota would translate to better field performance for the team. Even that deal was because he was a FA.

Jalen left based on reading the tea leaves in mid-2019 of a franchise that was headed for a rebuild. He didn't believe could work it out based on his knowledge of the internal disconnect between FO and coaches. The disrespect from the Front Office after the on field spat put gasoline on that and expedited his decision to force his way out now rather than wait.
