That’s the dilemma the Jags were faced with, though.  Based on the evaluations, there really weren’t any cornerstone players in this draft.  Obviously there will be players that can and will start from day one and there will be players that can and will make the Pro Bowl, but that consensus, dominant, generational player just wasn’t there.

Here’s an intangible that people don’t think about.  Where do you think Walker really wanted to play, and where do you think Hutchinson really wanted to play?  Walker is Bulldog and gets to play in Jax.  Hutchinson is a Wolverine and gets to play in Detroit.  I know these guys are professionals, but they’re also human.   One big upside with Walker is that I think he really wants to be here.  I’m not sure that Hutchinson did.

Now I’m not going to lie.  I like to play it safe, so I would have taken Hutchinson.  However, I can’t really lambaste the Jags for swinging for the fences when there wasn’t much else out there to be excited about.
