B.S.  The Republicans selected to be on the committee were rejected because they probably would have exposed the real reason for this "kangaroo court".  The goal is nothing more than to prevent Donald Trump from running again.

That's a worthy goal in my opinion.  

McCarthy selected 5 people to be on the committee, and 2 of them were rejected by Pelosi, so that leaves 3 that McCarthy originally selected who could have been on the committee.  And then he could have selected 2 more.  But then he decided to boycott the committee, and left the Democrats in charge of the whole show.
