The time when a problem pregnancy becomes enough of a danger to the mother's life is a gray area. One might see such a situation and say that the mother should have stuck it out a while longer before giving up on the baby.
There are sometimes procedures that have to be performed after a miscarriage, to prevent further infection and damage to the mother. And there is usually no way to tell if the miscarriage was natural or induced by some drug or another. One might see that and suspect the doctor of actually performing an abortion. Doctors do not trust the judgment of prosecutors or juries in these areas. And they don't see any reason, in looking at what state legislatures have done so far, to trust that either. Medical judgements should be left to medical professionals. It would be best if most cases of doctors performing illegal, intentional abortions on healthy fetuses and mothers were judged administratively, not criminally. The doctor should be risking his license, not his liberty. But no one wants to have that conversation, because no one wants to hear any arguments from the other side of any issue.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.
