In Chaison's defense, he has been miscast for 2 seasons in defenses that didn't fit what he was projected to do well.

On top of that he was always project and has had to learn 3 defenses in 3 season. 

As this point, there is no reason to keep him on and hope it all comes together.

The problem Chaisson has is he was drafted in the 1st round. There's a certain level of expectation and he's come nowhere near it sadly. Then look at someone like Ngakoue as  3rd rounder and he was way above that level.

I agree with you that we haven't done a lot to help him in terms of system and where we've lined him up but for me, the 1st round pick label is what causes a lot of the criticism.

I agree on the level of expectation and and round where they were drafted.

But Ngakoue vs Chaisson is wierd comparison. 

Ngakoue had one 1 major skill where he he near elite -- pass rushing. But he is is average or below average everything else. He was perfectly cast on the early Jags teams, and consistently fills needs on other teams when he fills that sole need. But there is a reason he is already on his 4th team.

Chaisson was best suited for a jack-of-trades position on a 3-4 defense that valued his versatility and coached up his ceiling, basically the Patriots style defenses of a few years ago. Instead he was drafted to a team that wanted to turn him into a pash rusher, and did a horrible job trying to develop that skill.

I will grant you that he takes some blame for development having had 2 off seasons to work on skills and not showing anything yet. But in a different multiverse, he is a key starter for a different team.
