Have we been too harsh on Jawaan Taylor?

The game against the Eagles is much closer to his norm than the previous 3.

That's fair. I know a lot of people have also factored in the passing game being a lot more quick and with shorter routes as well which is shortening Taylor's time, along with everybody on the line, to really [BLEEP] up and let somebody beat them in pass protection.

I don't know man. Maybe the Eagles really are just that good of a football team though. I mean, they DID come off a pretty big pass rushing effort against Washington the week before we played them up there.

We'll see this Sunday I guess. Press Taylor said he feels like the tinhorns have an underrated defense. I don't know if I believe that completely. They don't really have much of a pass rush from what I can gather just from looking at their team stats. Granted, they're also getting gouged by the ground game.

I am also not overly concerned with this front seven going up against Pierce and Mills. I think last week was a fluke in Philadelphia. And, again, I know the coaches are supposed to say "Well, defense has to be in their gaps and play better". Look, when you put the football on the ground four times and you give your opponent a short field to work with?

You're obviously putting too much on the defense. You can make the argument that Fatukasi doesn't hurt his hamstring had we not sucked [BLEEP] on offense in the turnover battle. But, back to Pierce, prior to the Chargers LOSS, again, not sure why everybody gets excited about Pierce's one big game on the year in a LOSS, he had 11-33, 15-69, 20-80 & 14-131. He broke a 75 yard run when they were already down 21 - 0 with 9:48 in the 2nd quarter.

So... it's not like his some juggernaut that the media is trying to paint him out to be. Going to be disappointing if this defense doesn't get it done this Sunday against their offense.

Oluokun and Lloyd need to step up. If Fatukasi isn't there to gum up the middle, they need to be quicker to fill the right gap.

It's also time for Hamilton and RRH to step up. They were part of the problem with the run D last year, but they do at least have better coaching and a better scheme this season. They will absolutely NOT be facing an OL as strong as Philly's this week, so that should help. Good test for the DT rotation this week.

What can they do vs a suspect OL without their strongest run defender to help them?
