Slay was literally given permission to seek a trade days prior to the report he was going to be cut.  Given that, teams would have absolutely been in contact with him, and with the reports he was cut it's not surprising teams were actively contacting him.  Hell, even Slay and his wife were tweeting after the report as if he was in fact about to be cut and they were on the way out.

He was still the first person to call the Byron news, and despite the fact that that fell through, it was corroborated by several other reporters that we were prepared to hire him when Dilla claimed it.  He absolutely jumped the gun on it though, and he's been more reserved as a result.

Call the false news?  Lol  The one Tampa beat writer, can't remember his name, is the one that reported it that it was a done deal.  They were in talks with Byron and it was never a done deal, Byron was trying to play GM and bring in his own boss as a first time head coach and Shad wasn't having it. A few in the twitter world always want to be the first one to break the news whether they know if it's true or not, they might of seen the tweet first.
