There were minorities and bumpkins and girl power in the original trilogy.  That part didn't change.  You changed.  You started seeing everything as red vs. blue.  You didn't see it that way in the 80s.

But there is a nugget of truth behind your old man anger. They did intentionally insert queerness into the storylines and it is a big reason the movies didn't work. They put sexual tension between Po and Finn. But never develop it. They had Rey behave as if she was immune to attraction to any male, implying she is a lesbian. But never actually developing that either. Very hard to develop characters when even the writers can't firmly decide fundamental aspects of their identities.
