Everything you read about Trump and Mexico was manufactured by a largely liberal media that wanted to make it seem like Trump hated Mexico and Mexicans. Classic demagoguery, but you guys just keep giving too much credit to our media complex. It's true that Lopez Obrador disliked Trump. He had political affiliations with the democrats and bought into the narrative about Trump... that is right up until he met him and renegotiated the North American Trade Pact. After that, he consistently referred to Donald Trump as a friend who understands Mexicans. Yeah... sure, Marty. The dude got along with Trump, and was just defending him the other day, but he hates all the policies he implemented. That's how that works.... lol. You are so transfixed by "what the article says" that you don't even question what it's saying. I am literally challenging what it's saying and you can't move off of it. Those things cited are not what he's mad about. The Mexican President doesn't like that this administration doesn't give them autonomy. Let's see what the director of the Mexico Institue at the Wilson Center has to say about it, "“I think it is more that the Biden administration has tried hard to re-institutionalize the relationship and restore the relationship that’s not centered solely on immigration and trade. And I think as a result, that leads to issues coming up that AMLO is less comfortable talking about.” In other words, they want Mexico to go green which is going to harm their ability to compete globally and stay energy independent. “At the end of the day, the problem is that you have the complete mismatch in this relationship,” said Arturo Sarukhan, who served as Mexico’s ambassador to the US from 2006 to 2013. |
