The PGA Tour was in a tough spot.  They were facing endless litigation against an entity with nearly unlimited money.  They were also facing a future of LIV constantly luring away star players.  They had upped the prize money to retain players, but they had to raise the sponsorship fees, and they were losing sponsors as a result.  This was a battle that could have destroyed professional golf.  I admit that none of us know all the facts, but from what I understand right now, they did what they had to do.  They had to take the Saudi money to kill LIV golf.  

The PGA Tour isn't merging with LIV.  They are merging with PIF.  LIV is probably dead.  

Granted, as more facts come out, I might change my mind, but that's what it looks like to me.  PIF is the winner.  LIV is the loser.  The PGA Tour survives.
