Trump never produced any reason for taking the docs (dozens of boxes).  They were left in several locations unsecured and accessible to a long list of guests to Mar-a-Lago who should not have access. He ordered staff to move many of the boxes several times to hide them from officials coming to retrieve and/or inspect them. When his lawyers figured that out and advised against it he ordered staff to move the boxes yet again so that this one lawyer wouldn't find them.

When that lawyer showed up and there were only a small number of boxes, he asked "is this it? no more docs?" Trump lied and said "that's it" after he had JUST had his staff move most of them the night before. LOL
After this - he began traveling with several of the boxes on his plane so they wouldn't be taken by his lawyers or the archives while he was away.

There's a whole transcript of him viewing and talking about a classified military doc with a casual employee of his golf resort.

The info released thus far in this case is a comedy and also just continues to illustrate what an incompetent moron Trump has always been and continues to be.
