I honestly cannot remember any other North American major 4 sports team who has done that. If they were at a different facility it was still one in their many location/city. The further distance I can even remember is the NY Islanders who had matches at MSG And Barclay.Bears played 1 season in Champaign. It's a little over 2 hours away. Only on HGTV do they manage to work around the clock and get construction done as fast as humanly possible, and that's due to the magic of editing. Seems like every real project I see they go really fast until all of a sudden they come to a dead halt for weeks because they're waiting for something. And with today's supply-chain issues, you can count on that kind of thing happening repeatedly. So if they tried to do the construction with a timeline of being ready for the next season, you'd be inviting disaster. The project won's start until 2026 at the earliest. Everything I've read says they will have to spend more than $100 million on whatever stadium they select to play in while the downtown stadium is being renovated. I'm intrigued by the option of improving something here in town, like at UNF. |
