Daily’s Place appears that it could be a stand alone venue and should fit right in with current construction/entertainment district. The only drawback I can see is cost differential. We know the long term goal is to develop both sides of the river and this would get a jump on that as well as keep the team here while they build the new stadium. I agree with all of your points. You saved me the effort from writing something similar. However, I would like to comment on "E". I don't know where you heard that they were considering this Southbank location for a new school board building. There has been some talk of relocating the school board, but the two locations I've heard is to either lease space in the Blue Cross Blue Shield Building in Riverside or build a new building in the LaVilla area on the north side of the river. For those unfamiliar with the Southbank project on the site for the former generator station, NYC is right in that it is definitely "major". It's going to take multiple years to construct, so some of the later phases are still subject to modification, but I understand the plan is to include over 1,100 apartments/condos, 40 town houses, a 200 person hotel, an office building, retail space, restaurants and a marina. If someone wants development on the Southbank, the last thing you want to do is cancel this project. This project isn't just empty speculation either. It's already in progress. They are already "pushing dirt" and my understanding is that they have nearly completed installation of all of the needed utilities. They will then move to building roads with construction of buildings to start in the fall. |
