1010XL is a great show here locally. Try to listen to them as much as I can on my early morning lunch breaks. I don't think a deal gets done at all. There's no rush now with Brenton Strange being a 2nd RD investment along with the fact that, they're going to have to create or leave some cap space out there in 2024 to make a decision on Calvin Ridley.

We already have plenty of cap space tied up at WR between Zay Jones and Christian Kirk and then we should be getting a wallop back next year after Cam Robinson is gone and cleared off the cap. They made a good point about the TE market on that show last week. There wasn't enough going on at the position contract wise to really establish or set a strong market value for Evan Engram.

If he comes out and plays out of his mind or similar to how he played last year on another tag? He'll get some fat loot from somebody in next year's free agency class for sure. I just don't think it happens here. I give Baalke credit though. Initially it was reported he wanted to lock Engram down on a multi year deal. Engram betted on himself and so far, it was probably the best decision of his career.

I don't see him sitting out though.

Sitting out NEVER works in the favor of the player.  He would return next year having to make up for the 11.5 million he bypassed just to break even.  Say a 4 year deal that would require someone to play him north of 16 million a year for all 4 years just to break even. If he gets a deal like that and they out after 3 years he loses money. Not sure what that proves other than him and his agent do not understand the value of money today vs in the (uncertain) future.
A new broom always sweeps clean.
