There are reports of fire fighters leaving while the fire was still going early in the day. Reports of water being turned off or no water available. Homeowners were actually able to fight it off themselves until they turned the water off.

Most of the fires today are arson. It's not climate change and it's not lightning. They had an arsonist problem before this fire started, so most likely it was the same person.

Right on cue the governor says he is looking to find a way to buy the land and "then build working class homes". The problem with that is it will be a long time until the land is cleared and cleaned up. It will cost a lot to do the cleanup and just like the shipyards the government won't want to pay for it. So they will sell to someone rich.

The allegation isn't that climate change started the fire.
The allegation is climate change made the fire worse.  It's tenuous at best.  Western Maui has always been dry and its ecology has been turned upside down by invasive grasses.  Very unlikely that climate change played much of a role in making the fire worse.

However climate change is real and has caused the extreme heat in AZ, TX, and FL this summer.
