Unfortunately it's too easy to explain it away with weather patterns and cycles. El Niño is usually to blame because it indeed shakes things up in similar ways to the long term patterns.

By the time the hard data is 100% irrefutable illustrating the irreversible change heading our way enough for skeptics to accept - we'll all be dead or on our nearing our deathbeds. It'll be our adult-aged great grandkids that get totally screwed.

I don't expect people who couldn't give a rat's [BLEEP] about losing a third of the elderly population to a pandemic to care about something that will happen when they're dead.
