If the subject of race comes up they may be very harsh and unenlightened, yes.  If they come over here or any other place that has a mix of races, they may not know how to process that.  But race rarely comes up over there. And they are some of the proudest people on the planet, not in a good way.

You are right about their pride. They are the elitist, white supremicists of South America. They see themselves as the most racially pure descendents of their Spanish ancestors. According to them, every other South American culture has been polluted by cross breeding with the indigienous people that came before them in thier respective countries. Many/most of them were darker skinned. I've had Argentinian friends admit this to me directly. Its not a secret.
