But you can't expect to get everything you want when you don't have majority control.

And there will be times you do have majority control when it turns out some of the people you thought agreed with you don't actually agree.  So you end up with a majority in name only

Which means you have to be persistent until you get the majority you want.  You have to keep growing the number of people who vote your way, not calling them garbage.

And you have to respect your opponents when they're in charge if you expect them to respect your guys when you're in charge.
