Folks don’t fully understand the risks and tremendous leap of faith the Apollo 8 astronauts undertook. The furthest any astronaut had ever been from earth was 3000 miles. They launched to 238,000 miles and orbited the moon. And they did it in a rush because U.S. intelligence believed the Soviets were going to attempt it first. One of its crewmen, Bill Lovell, also flew on the ill-fated Apollo 13. It’s an incredible story in itself.

Not me man. I am sticking my salad shooter right outside the space window. I don't care. Dynamics and Space is a Vacuum theory be damned. I ain't being a turd burglar for 8 days.

Space being a vacuum might help it quite a bit.
