Fun fact: Bill Anders didn’t crap during the entire 8-day Apollo8 flight.
Folks don’t fully understand the risks and tremendous leap of faith the Apollo 8 astronauts undertook. The furthest any astronaut had ever been from earth was 3000 miles. They launched to 238,000 miles and orbited the moon. And they did it in a rush because U.S. intelligence believed the Soviets were going to attempt it first. One of its crewmen, Bill Jim Lovell, also flew on the ill-fated Apollo 13. It’s an incredible story in itself. I don't care. Dynamics and Space is a Vacuum theory be damned. I ain't being a turd burglar for 8 days. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing; Rush in and die, dogs - I was a man before I was a king."
