The drug mixture is probably at lethal limits or completely ineffective right now. He has been pumped full of them for so long, they can no longer work. The MSM has hid it for +4 years and Dems for the most part don't watch the news or just watch MSM, so they literally had no clue it was this bad. Anyone watching any of his longer speeches from the last few years would have seen it. The debate was the first time most of them actually watched him speaking for more than a minute or 2.

Biden has almost all of the delegates to the Convention pledged to him.  So to replace him, he would have to withdraw of his own volition.  Then, the delegates to the Convention would vote on a replacement.

I think it would be great TV to see 4 or 5 candidates trying to get the nomination at the Convention.  Lots of drama!

In the actual case it is/was kind off predictable that there could be complications.
But if it would be another candidate and he has health reasons for example or something else which would even lead the candidate to pull back his candidacy, what would be the most logical thing for the respective party? Do they have to take this steps which you described again? Months or weeks before the election? That's defeat by default in my opinion. Or does the second placed nominee has to be a 'substitute' in that case?

Would be fun to see. When was the last time there was an open convention? 1968?

I think the pressure to step down is only escalating and if donors start pulling away, then he will have no chance but to throw in the towel. Interesting checking the betting markets and Biden’s odds of being the democratic nominee are just about the same as Kamala’s. The ship is sinking fast.

The options for replacements you stated are not viable now. The open convention relies on having a bunch of people running.

I still haven't seen anyone put all the info in a single, understandable post. There are different rules per state but it mostly comes down to this. In order to be on the ballot for president, you had to register last year and get signatures. No one did this for the primary other than Biden. From what I've seen, the dates are all past for the states now. The dems can change their convention rules to allow them to nominate whoever they want but since no one has filed to run for president they don't have a legal replacement option.

Then there are states where you can't remove him even if he steps down after the nomination. The 25th only removes him from the president, it doesn't remove the current nomination. Short of him "dying", the options are running out.

So the left keeps putting names out there, talks about open convention, etc but they don't talk about the fact that no one else registered so there are no other options at the convention. Afterwards he can step down but that doesn't mean he gets replaced on the ballot.
