Should Orlando impose conditions for the Jags to use Camping World Stadium in 2027?

That would be amazing watching them play in the swamp. Most UF students either will not care or already have their NFL allegiance so I doubt you change too many. Heck a lot of them don't even care about the Gators, good luck getting them to care about the Jags. The Saints had a similar situation playing in Tiger Stadium after Katrina. Tiger Stadium was half empty and heck that was with a lot of LSU students being Saints fans which is not the case at UF. The Swamp might have history but overall it's a dump. Trust me, I've been in there for many games. You won't be so happy sitting there for a 1:00 game sitting on bleachers with no backs (which is the majority of the stadium), especially early in the season. The early season heat there is worse than EverBank. The food vendors are not good either, unless you are up in the suites. Plus less home field advantage. The Swamp seats 90,000 people. Even if the Jags got 60,000 people, you are talking about 30,000 empty seats and a 1/3 empty stadium. Never mind the fact the Jags would have to play around UF's schedule as the Gators will have first priority. Whereas in Orlando, Camping World Stadium has no primary tenant to worry about that. Typically the NFL for scheduling purposes doesn't like playing second fiddle to a college team or existing tenant. The Swamp also has natural grass which is an SEC requirement. Hosting two teams, I seriously doubt that grass holds up the entire season. That could mean more injuries. Plus the lack of hotel rooms in Gainesville. There's a lot of reason The Swamp wouldn't be the fit you think it would be. |
