This is the Offense Thread, and offense is predicated on how the coaches coach just as much as how the players play. So I don't think I'm out of line to say that I don't think it's the players that are the problem here. Doug isn't a real option for being a long term HC. He never wanted to be Andy Reid. Reid is still running that offense. Doug never wanted to have that much responsibility. That's why he washed out in Philly. And that's why he's washing out here. As for the 2024 offense stumbling... That's kinda funny. This offense came out firing on all cylinders against Miami! Dude, do you guys forget how great we looked against Miami the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters before the ETN fumble??? The offense looked great. There was 1 sack in the first play of the game. And then, after that, we looked great on offense. The ETN fumble changed everything. And the coaches just gave up and couldn't get the team to believe anymore. Then, against Cleveland we came out lifeless. Everyone knows it. We came out on our home opener like we didn't care at all. And our offense was predictable untill the end of the 3rd Quarter when they finally started playing garbage time football. But at least we were keeping the Cleveland D on their heels. I mean, I don't want to have to remind everyone how this season has gone. But this was THE TEAM that everyone told us was the most talented team in Jaguars history. That's a fact. I just don't know how else I can explain it. This team is underperforming. We have the talent. And yet we still can't do things other NFL teams can do. At some point you have to start pointing the finger at the Front Office and the Coaching Staff. We need a HC like Andy Reid. Someone that takes pride in his offense and is willing to put in the work to run the offense. Andy Reid has always been the OC of every team he ever was the HC of. Doug never wanted that much work. And we can see what that means. Doug did the work the 1st year, but he wanted to give up those tasks to his OC in 2023 when he thought the thing was fixed. The problem is, and it's what makes great coaches great, nothing is ever fixed. You have to always be managing that thing that makes you good. Reid recognized that. He always manages the offense. He's in control of the offense. He works with his QB. He is in charge of what happens on the offense. Doug did the opposite. That's why this offense and our QB has regressed since the end of 2022. It's plain as day. |
