Because look at how the bulk of Amaro's catches; they came from 1-5 yards and also lined up in the slot. Thats not the kind of TE I want. By contrast, look at a guy like Niklas - His catches were more spread out and did well in the intermediate range (think deep seam) which IMO is what you are looking for from your TE. Also, Niklas was able to accomplish this while lining up as a conventional TE, which is more impressive and suggests a more seamless transition and transferable game to the pros. 

 

Not to mention Niklas is easily the better blocker of the 2. 

 

Their drop rates are similar, which again, given that Niklas' catch chart is more spread out than Amaro's mostly 1-5 yarders, makes Niklas more impressive in that category. PLayers aren't going to drop too many 1-5 yarders....
