Kiper 3 round mock draft
|
Jacksonville Jaguars
Top needs: QB, DE, RT, WR Round 1 (3) LB Khalil Mack, Buffalo Round 2 (39) QB Derek Carr, Fresno St. Round 3 (70) WR Allen Robinson, Penn St. Analysis: The new leadership group in Jacksonville has done a good job working to retool the roster in terms of overall talent and depth, and if I'm making the pick, I'm not ready yet to go against that philosophy and risk a slow learning curve for one of the quarterbacks just because so many believe I need "identity" at the position. I see the strides made in the second half of last season, and I think my first goal is: "Take a great football player." That's Mack, a high-impact pass-rusher and a great player in space. With Mack on board, I like the value proposition of Carr in Round 2. I don't consider him an immediate starter, but he will compete for it soon, and I feel good about the pick because I didn't put so much franchise stock into the position in Round 1. I considered a couple tackles at No. 70, but instead add the talented Robinson, who is closer to a first-rounder in most years, and a player who gives me a reliable size element and some field-stretching ability in my passing attack. Don't forget, the Jags have a trio of fourth-round picks, too. http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=1...GradeA2014

I'd take it. Especially if Robinson falls to the 3rd. He's got first round talent.
I could live with this. Would rather see a O-lineman at the #70 but as the analysis says we do have a bunch of picks later on.
Carr sucks.
Would rather just take Garoppolo there or maybe not a QB at all at that pick instead of throwing it in the Carr-bage. Too much legit talent will still be available at that pick like Desir or Troy Niklas. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Meh on Carr and meh on Robinson.
I'd rather Jordan Matthews as the wr even if we need to get him in round 2. If we pass on an early qb, Take Logan Thomas later and see if he can be developed. Quote:Carr sucks. You can't draft players who were already drafted  You'd rather take Niklas at 39 when he is mocked at 99? :teehee: We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:You can't draft players who were already drafted  Whoever thinks that Niklas will fall past pick 50 is misguided.
I'd be good with that, especially Carr. I don't get the love for Garoppolo from some posters--not just TMD. I've read in a few places that Tony Romo is a possible best-case scenario for him. Do we really want three years of Chad Henne while he learns the pro game? Even then, I'm not the least bit convinced that Carr won't end up being a better player anyway.

Whats the best case scenario for Carr? Gabbert? Yep. Romo > Gabbert. I think Garoppolo could be a better QB than Romo anyway, We show less advertisements to registered users. Misguided is the guy so driven by agenda that he wants Marcedes gone even if it means overdrafting his replacement. TE is one of the last things we need, and certainly not likely to be the best player available when we select.
"You do your own thing in your own time. You should be proud."
Quote:Misguided is the guy so driven by agenda that he wants Marcedes gone even if it means overdrafting his replacement. Overdrafting? Wanna have a little friendly side bet that Niklas doesn't last past pick 50?
Quote:Misguided is the guy so driven by agenda that he wants Marcedes gone even if it means overdrafting his replacement. Misguided is a perfect description for The Attention Dog. That being said a legitimate pass catching TE is also a position I would like to see added. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Misguided is a perfect description for The Attention Dog. That being said a legitimate pass catching TE is also a position I would like to see added. ...So then, you ADMIT I had a valid point with that, thus not "agenda driven" or "attention seeking". Quote:Whats the best case scenario for Carr? Gabbert? Yep.Where are you getting that Gabbert is the best-case scenario for Carr? I just don't see Garoppolo as worth a first-round pick. If he goes in one, he's destined to become Brandon Weeden 2.0. He needs to be drafted in the third or fourth round so that expectations are tempered, and he can sit and learn without pressure to be the guy immediately. If that happens, yeah, he could be really good, but coming from such a low level of competition, it's also entirely possible that he never adapts to the pro game. FCS quarterbacks in the first round are incredible risks to take, and even high in the second, that's a lot of eggs to put in an uncertain basket. I'm good with Garoppolo in the third if we must, but I'd be most comfortable with him as the team's second QB drafted in the fourth round who'll get time to sit, learn and become tradebait or our starter.
Quote:Where are you getting that Gabbert is the best-case scenario for Carr? By watching him CRUM, CRUM, CRUMMMMM-BLE in the face of pressure the only time he faced a legit team vs USC.... Thats what he'll face routinely in the big boy league. Just like his brother. Same traits/ Bloodlines. He will be a garbage pro. |
