Neil told Robin Leach — yes, the man of champagne wishes and caviar dreams — he has long-term goals of bringing an AFL team to his hometown, Las Vegas.

 

Make no mistake: That doesn’t involve the Sharks.

 

“Simply stated, the Jacksonville Sharks are neither relocating to the Las Vegas market nor planning to ever leave our great city of Jacksonville,” Bouchy said.

 

The Sharks are one of the most successful franchises — on and off the field — in the league. Moving to Las Vegas would require a lot of work since the town thrives on tourists who are more interested in 99-cent buffets and $2 hands of blackjack.

 

Neil is more likely to use the next couple of years learning the successful business model created by Bouchy and his partners before considering a move of his own to Las Vegas.

 

But Jacksonville always will be “Home Sweet Home” for the Sharks.
